I've modified the navigation on the lhs bar to make it easier for other readers of this site to see whats happening. If you had a few other pages you made check to see if I included them on your own page?

Wow - looks to be quite a lot of work going on with you guys. Well done. Many of you look to be well advanced with your links to the curriculum. You may well be finding some of this hard too. I had a quick chat with Mrs McNeil this morning - and we both agreed that some of the connections between the technologies, the curriculum and some of your topics/themes/contexts are challenging. This I think is the biggest difficulty we all face - most of these technologies are not mainstream (yet) - and so most teachers will not have heard of them, let alone experimented with them. That's the cool thing you have the chance to do - you can experiment - hopefully with your subject teachers - and see if there is a fit with all of this. Can you find examples of work that might be being tested somewhere? Can you make some connections with other people to discuss this wider? (have you thought of asking our Careers staff if they know of contacts in NZ or elsewhere that might be worth trying to contact?).
Here are a couple of visuals - 1 that I have used plenty of time before (the video) and the picture I found on an RSS blog feed this morning (the power of RSS!!)

Some of you have been asking how to add a wiki page for your reflections that doesn't show on the navigation bar. This is a little tricky - but only because of the way the navigation menu must be edited. What I suggest is if you want a refkections page and not use the discussion pages, then go ahead and create a reflection page - only one per group - and both of you use it. Add the date as the heading for your reflection.
Here is some useful information for those doing collective intelligence, data mashups and collaborative web...
RSS (or really simple syndication) is a technology that has been around for a while - and really needs to be part of all of your research and hopefully used insome of your examples. It is also one of those technologies that actally makes your life easier.
This video by Common Craft is a good descriptor - easy to watch ...
So, to learn more - you can either head to Atomic Learning for some help on RSS (and a pile opf other web 2.0 tools, or ask and I can show you. Some of the RSS readers I use are Google Reader, Netvibes and PageFlakes.

Time to really get going - and to start using this wiki for what it is intended - ie everything.
Today you need to on with writing up your overall plan for your project - you will do this on the page that you must create.
2. And this is a cool little application you might try to add some stuff to your wiki??
March 13 Make sure you share all your work as you go.
Here are your original usernames and passowrds for Google Docs. Please - treat this with respect - under no circumstances is it acceptable to use another person's log in details - so change your password as soon as you can. If you already have, great. If you've lost yours, I can reset it for you.
1. You must use something to keep all of your research in the one place, and you should share this with the rest of the class. So, make sure that you have shared all of your work, either in Google Docs or Zoho, with every member of your class - including all of the staff involved. Here's the link to the Google Docs home page. (If you can't remember your user name and password see me or Mrs Yeo.) If you don't know how to do this, then either look for help on the web sites you are using - or for Google Docs help you can head to Atomic Learning. Here's the link to the Google Docs help files, the Presentations one can be accessed here too. http://movies.atomiclearning.com/uk/google_docs
2. Here are some possible ideas ... a. Grassroots Video ... can you create one which would be really useful for one of your subjects/topics within a subject. eg You are passionate about caring for animals badly hurt by either bush fires (eg like the ones in Oz lately), or by general mistreatment by people. The SPCA have asked for your help to make an ad for them which will show the wider population just how these animals are treated and cared for to nurse them back to health, how much it all costs etc - as part of a national campaign to raise awareness and money. Of course, you would probably want to make contact with the SPCA to understand this better. Which of your subject teachers would you work with this on?
b. and e. Collaboration Webs ...Collective Intellgence how can you create a community of students in other countries to work with you on an issue of importance ... maybe something like global warming, or saving the whales, or something that is close to your heart. Discuss it with your teachers. I have a school in northern Italy and another in southern England that may be keen on working with you, but you and your other teachers may know of plenty of others. Of course, can you bring some other experts in to help. eg you may have a parent with specific expertise, or an anut or uncle? What can you create using Google Docs, or Zoho or other to build your own community to make a difference?
d. Data mashups ... how might you use Google Earth and an array of other information - such as pictures from Flickr, Photobucket, or even better, your own, maybe even your own original artwork, and video and text and audio to create a visual analysis of a trip through Africa, or a tour of historical sites of New Zealand, or a tour of the sites of the recent bush fires in Oz accompanied with newsfeeds, TV news, Youtube video and actual accounts of what happened? All these can be packaged up and shared - so they can also fit the bill of collaboration and collective intelligience. What about making your own mashup using Yahoo Pipes - find a topic that interests you, talk to one of your teachers to look for possible resources and try building one?
Watch this for some help - that's what it is supposed to offer!!

OK - time to try and get things a little more in perspective. What I want you to do is follow this link to Grass Roots video as done by a group of students internationally last year. Have a good look through what they have done - watch their videos. Make some notes for yourself and see if you can make some connections between the work these guys have done and what your instruction page says.
Remember, this is a pretty complex task we're asking you to partner with us in. It needs to be broken down into much more smaller and manageable chunks before you will make much, if any, progress.
For me there is one big difference between what we are asking you to do and what these students did. What is it?
Welcome to the very first Horizon Project.
Scores have been added to the Groups and Technologies page.
This page will house the latest bits of information - probably a good idea to check here before you head anywhere else.
Here's the intro chapter to "Grown Up Digital".

1. This might give you an idea of what you can do in a wiki ... this was created by primary school students discussing what they could do about human rights.
